As all of my blog followers know every Thursday is "Their Words~My Art Thursdays". It's a time when I post a quote and an image that I feel when combined tell a beautiful story. It's also a time when that's all I post and nothing more...so I know many of you are probably wondering, why is she babbling on...lol. Well, recently [Framed] Show put out a challenge for their upcoming show to post an image and tell a story about that image or simply let the image speak for itself. This challenge giveaway for this week is a yearlong membership to Red Leaf Studios Workshop. Now, I can't tell you how inspiring Red Leaf is to me, so when I saw this challenge come up, I was beyond excited!!

So since Thursday's are day's I specifically post these type of storytelling images anyway, I thought this would be a perfect time to share this one. I chose this image because I feel it tells a story of childhood. The freedom, the innocence, the endless possibilities... Oh, to be a child again. It seems that even if you aren't a child, when you watch a child at play in the complete freedom they feel in that moment, you will loose yourself and become a child again, even if just for a moment. I love that about working with children.

And because with every "Their Words~My Art Thursdays" I share a quote to tell the story...

Senior Soul :) And a little of mine... {Mid Michigan Senior Photographer}

Awhile back I did some posts on “senior pictures being so much more than just a photograph”. I will be honest, I am not the greatest when it comes to writing, I obviously express myself through my camera so sometimes I get frustrated not being able to put my heart on paper. Thankfully the good Lord has allowed me the ability to put my heart in a photograph. But the last few days a few things have happened that relate to this subject and I wanted to share. This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting another amazing senior. Yes I know with all the snow on the ground you wouldn’t think I would have shot a senior session just days ago, but boy were we lucky :)

If nothing else, my goal going into a senior session is to capture the essence…the very soul of the senior I photograph. When seniors come to me, the comment I hear the most is that they see the “person” in the photographs I take not just a picture. And that means more to me than anything!!

So getting back to story about my recent senior session, There was a point in the session when I was taking the photos and the senior had her Grandma along and as I am shooting her Grandma simply says to her, “she is photographing your soul”. That moment stopped me dead in my tracks. I was pretty speechless, yeah I know most of you are thinking that’s a shocker…lol, but truly all I could utter out of my mouth was “thank you”. To that grandma and everyone else who “gets” it, thank you for seeing that with my camera I am digging into the very soul of the person and that I want the photograph to be a reflection of “who” you are not just a picture of “what” you look like.

Yesterday, my friend and fellow photog from Earth Angel Photography posted a photograph of a senior and with it she posted some very beautiful words about the photograph and what it meant to her. It was like in all my ramblings, I would never sum it up as well as Cari did in these last few sentences. So with her permission I wanted to share her words. They are exactly how I feel about my seniors.

“As I look at the photo before me, I can hear the shutter click and feel the camera vibration as I stole that moment from them. A whisper in time, a second they no doubt will eventually forget. I will remember their nervousness when I first picked up the camera, and I will remember and cherish the second they grew their wings and began to fly.”

I am thankful that you choose me to capture a very special moment in your life. It’s WAY more than having a photo taken, its part of who you are right now and I am thankful and honored to be apart of it!!
I am also very excited to meet all the upcoming Class of 2012 Seniors and share in your memories!!

Featured Senior~Kelsey~Shepherd High School {Mid Michigan Senior Photographer}

This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting up in Alma with Miss Kelsey. Kelsey attends Shepherd High School, and as you can see is absolutely Beautiful!! We were pretty lucky to get a nice day for her photos. It wasn't super warm but for Michigan we'll take it :) It was a perfect beginning to Senior Season, and it made me even more excited than I already was to meet all the Amazing new Seniors this coming year :)

Okay, maybe this one is my fave...lol. I will never forget this shot, Kelsey's grandma came along for the shoot, and when I was taking this series, she said "Kels...she just photographed your soul" Probably one of the best compliments and it truly made my day!!

Sweet Baby "E" {Mid Michigan Newborn Photographer}

One thing I absolutely love about my job is the connections I build with my clients. I have always said it is so much more than just a client relationship, but rather a friendship that has been formed. I have been photographing this family for several years and it's been my pleasure to watch their children grow but this time it was my honor to welcome their newest addition.
So, before vacation I got to meet their little man, and I must say, he was a complete dream to photograph. He was just 7 days old, so very tiny and just perfect!! Thank you for letting me capture this very special time in your life!!

When it was time to leave I knew they would be giving baby a bath. I always recommend this because the baby is on so many new fabrics and textures. So for this shoot, I decided to stick around and capture the first bath for them. I know I would have loved to have these photos taken for my babies, so I was thankful I could be there to do this for them :) Here is just one from baby's first bath :)
